Content labels, son of PICS

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this article is its coverage of Content Labels, a new idea to me. Apparently these are being proposed as a replacement to PICS, an existing mechanism for labelling the content of a site which is used by likemind.co.uk, amongst a conscientious few.

Segala’s aim it would seem is to encourage search engines to take account of Content Labels when producing search results. If they do, that’ll get SEO experts all a-flutter. Will trust be the new PageRank?
